Offering guests luxurious resort accommodation in a sanctuary setting, Melia Bali is nestled amidst a luxurious garden of lush tropical flora and fauna through which winds a large lagoon style swimming pool. The lovely Melia Bali resort won the Gold Rating Commendation Award 2000 conducted by the Governor of Bali and the Regional Environmental Impact Agency (BAPEDAL) Bali as it has been a pioneer in supporting the Eco-Hotel Rating Programme, has implemented a zero discharge program, meeting Indonesian cleaner production standards and has also made excellent efforts in environment management. From the recently installed new filter and salt chlorinator system for the swimming pool (it is one of the few resort hotels in Indonesia, which has this environmentally friendly practice in order to avoid super chlorination in the swimming pool), bird sanctuary and organic gardens to the use of old coconut branches and leaves for brooms and napkin rings, Melia Bali allows its guests to enjoy and at the same time preserve the environment of the Bali Island. In 2000, Melia Bali also won the Tri Hita Karana Award held by the Governor of Bali and the Environmental Impact Management Agency in cooperation with SOCEI (Study of Cumulative Environmental Impact) Project and Non Governmental Organization i.e. Pusaka Bali and Bali Travel News. Tri Hita Karana is the Balinese philosophy, which seeks to find a balance between human and God, between human and human and human and environment. The Management of Melia Bali Villas & Spa Resort "is fully aware that tourism and support services have an enormous positive and/or negative impact on the environment. We realize that many tourism professionals (travel partners) consider environmental quality as essential to the delivery of their products or services. We are very fortunate in having the strong co-operation and support of the local community and private businesses in our work."

Our extensive knowledge of the region enables us to offer original itineraries, including places far removed from the well trodden tourist trails. We will–share with you some of South East Asia's best kept secrets and give you a real insight into its fascinating cultures, history, landscapes and natural world.–Respect for local cultures and positive environmental impact is essential to our tours. We contribute to local economies in various ways, for example, by–working with local guides, using public transport and staying in independently run guest houses and hotels. Our tours emphasise individual responsibilities–for the environment and we are developing links with local conservation projects in Thailand.
